The Theatre Museu Gala Salvador Dalí in Figueres, Costa Brava

Salvador Dali is one of the most popular artists of surrealism. Born 1904 in Figueres at the Costa Brava, Dali was working as a painter, writer, graphic artist, sculptor and scene designer. One of his most popular artworks are exhibited in the Theatre Museu Gala Salvador Dalí in Figueres.

nm_torre_galatea_figueres_09054_ssh.jpgThe museum is the main attraction of the city. It is world famous and the secound most visited museum of Spain, after the Prado in Madrid. Most visitors take a day trip to Figueres while spending their holidays in Barcelona. However, it is worth staying one or two nights in a Costa Brava Hotel to enjoy the beautiful landscape as well as spending some hours at the nice Costa Brava beaches.

The Dali Museum is not a usual museum. The artist himself lived and worked several years in the building. The museum is his biggest artwork and offers also artworks of other artists, such as Marcel Duchamp. Depending on your interest you can spend from one hour up to your whole day in the museum. Unfortunately, one of his greatest artworks - "The Persistence of Memory" is not exhibited here. It is part of the MoMa in New York City. Anyway, the museum offers numerous impressing Dali artworks.

Those who are planning to go there, should be aware of registering beforehand to avaoid standing in a queue for at least 30 minutes. During summer months, there will be crowds of people going to the museum. Especially during cloudy summer days, there will be a huge influx in people.
