Blanes, which is located in the province of Costa Brava in Catalonia, is a wonderful vacation destination for families and those without children as well. Outdoor Fun in Blanes
Because of its proximity to the ocean, Blanes is the perfect destination for those who enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, boating, fishing and picnicking by the ocean. With cliffs overlooking the ocean, you can spend the day hiking to see beautiful views of the town and the ocean.

You can choose to camp during your vacation, rent an Costa Brava apartment or stay in one of many Costa Brava hotels located in the town. Blanes is close to other seaside towns as well including Lloret de Mar and Tossa de Mar. These towns also have historic landmarks and views of the ocean.

Local Cuisine in Blanes
During your stay in Blanes, you will notice that there are many restaurants, cafes and bars to visit. If you like seafood, you will find many restaurants that serve traditional Catalonian cuisine that include various seafood delicacies. Fresh vegetables, lamb, beef and fresh herbs can also be found in many of the dishes served in restaurants and cafes.

In case that there are so many small festivals held in Blanes during the year, you should have little trouble scheduling your vacation around one or more. Popular festivals held in Blanes include:

• Sant Tomas Fair - held on December 21st to celebrate Christmas
• Artisan Fairs - held throughout the year
Other events include folk music concerts, the International Costa Brava Fireworks Contest and dance festivals.
