The district "El Borne" in Barcelona

450px-Barcelona_Carrer_dels_Agullers.jpgIf you want to go back in time to see how Barcelona may have looked during medieval times and before, visit Barcelona's neighborhood El Borne. Aside from the trendy shops, restaurants and modern transportation, very little has changed over the years. From the small winding streets to the large squares where people go for lunch or dinner, El Born is a great place to spend your holidays in Barcelona, e.g. in one of the comfortable Barcelona hotels in El Borne.

Beside the various shops, restaurants and cafes, there are several museums in El Born that you may find interesting. These museums include:

Picasso Museum
Located on Moncada Street, this museum hosts over 3,500 works by Pablo Picasso. Completed with a café and a bookshop, you can spend all day at this museum viewing Picasso's work and many other of his personal items.

Textile and Costume Museum
Since El Born was once the headquarters of the Barcelona textile guilds, it's fitting that a museum dedicated to textiles would be located here. You will find a variety of exhibits that feature embroidery, costumes from different time periods and clothing from the 20th century.

Maeght Gallery
This gallery, which is open to the public features artwork by Kandinsky, Miró, Giacometti and art of many further famous and well-known artists.

Spend a day or an afternoon in one or more of these museums to learn more about Barcelona and its rich artistic history.

el-borne-barcelona-apartment.jpgEl Born is not a large neighborhood, but there are Barcelona hotels and other types of Barcelona accommodations to choose from. There are two metro stations dedicated to El Borne and therefore you can easily get around anywhere in Barcelona. Your holidays in Barcelona should include visits to different neighborhoods so you can try out different kind of food and other cultural delights this city has to offer.

For those traveling with families, El Born is centrally located and is a ten minute walk to the beaches and the center of the city. This neighborhood is easy to reach from the Barcelona airport via the Renfe train.
