After the dictatorship of Franco with oppression and persecution of gays, the laws and rules have changed dramatically. The Santa Maria de Montserrat monastery is idyllically situated at the top of the same name mountain, in the heart of Catalonia. This very day the monastery shines in its medieval charm. Today approximately 80 monks live behind the monastery walls.
