Tarragona ? a piece of Roman history in Spain
Tarragona is located only one hour south of Barcelona at the Costa Dorada. The old roman town is worth a visit during a stay in a Costa Dorada Hotel or Costa Dorada Apartment.
218 BC it was base for the Roman conquest of the peninsula. After it became capital of Rome?s eastern Iberian province. Many temples and monuments were built whose remains can still be visited nowadays. The ?Rambla Nova? is the heart of the upper town and with all its fashionable cafés and restaurants a rival to ?Las Ramblas? de Barcelona. Parallel to the east you will discover Tarragona?s ?Rambla Vella?. Along the Rambla Vella you will discover many of the roman relics like for example temples, theatres and the amphitheatre. If you spend your holidays in a Hotel at the Costa Dorada you should spend one day of sightseeing in Tarragona. You can easily get there by train. The train station of Tarragona is in the lower town. To get to the Rambla you have to climb the steps on the right hand site.
