Sitges

Sitges, 40 km from Barcelona, situated in the Costa Brava is definitely the highlight of the coast south of Barcelona. Established in the 1960's as a holiday town whose loose attitudes openly challenged the rigidity of franco's Spain, it has now become the great weekend escape for young Barcelonans, who have created a resort very much in their own image. It's also a noted gay holiday destination, with a nightlige to match: indeed, if you don't like vigorous action of all kinds, you'd be wise to avoid Sitges in the summer. As well as a ceratin style, the Barcelona trippers have brought with them the high prices from the Catalan capital. The town is reasnoably attractive- aformer fishing village whose pleasing houses and narrow streets have attracted artistes and opted-out intellectuals for a century or so. The beaches, though crowded, are fr from oppressive, and the town has a smattering of cultural interest.
If you would like to stay in Sitges for a couple of days, have a look to the hotels in Sitges or apartments in Sitges!
