Tarragona makes a great stopover.The nicest rooms in town, or at least the ones in the best location, are in the predestrianized Plaça de la Font, just in the old town off Rambla Vella. If these are full, there are a couple a couple of less desirable places near the train station.
A few kilometres out of town, are some more small hotels and campsites.
Make sure to book your accomodation in advance, specially if you are going to la Costa Dorada in the summer, try to book at least one or two months in advance, otherwise, all the acommoadations in the Costa Dorada will be booked.
